You should get your first depo provera shot during the first five days of your period to make sure that you're not pregnant. if you get the shot at any other time in your cycle, you should have a pregnancy test done to rule out pregnancy before starting depo provera.. The depo shot is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy, and only 3 in 1,000 women will get pregnant while using this method of contraception. more often than not, the women who have gotten pregnant on depo likely conceived before the shot.. I was on the depo for 4 year. when my husband and i decided to try and get pregnant i stopped taking the shot. my doc told me it would take about a year to get pregnant. my period were ver iregular, after about 10 months i got pregnant..

The depo provera shot goes on to prevent pregnancy for quite awhile after you have had your most recent shot. for example, if you get a shot and then you decide a month later you want to try to get pregnant, the shot is already protecting you against pregnancy for another two months.. Have sex at least twice a week every week for a year after the shot wears off. you should naturally get pregnant at some point unless there is something wrong. you make it sound so simple and. Im not trying to get pregnant coz im onli 18 years old but i want to discontinue the depo shot due to the side effects that im getting..i will still use condoms or the morning after pill afta i stop the injection..
